Kate is an experienced factual presenter and reporter across daytime and primetime programming on the BBC, ITV and Channel 5, and can often be seen presenting reports for BBC1’s flagship programme ‘The One Show’.
Kate’s rigorous journalistic sense coupled with her ability to get stuck in meant she was a natural choice to host ‘Catching Criminal’s Live’ for Channel 5, live from Sheffield city centre. This ambitious and exciting programme followed on from Kate’s series ‘Police 5’ which saw her doing a mixture of special reports and stunts on this fast paced show dedicated to catching criminals, solving crime – and giving viewers the advice and help they need to avoid becoming victims. Of course Kate’s background in crime stems from her days undercover reporting and door-stepping on ‘MacIntyre’s Big Sting’ and exposing the world of internet dating for BBC’s ‘Real Story’.
Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, Kate has always had an interest in the world of small business and decided to open her own business 7 years ago in Angel North London. Her independent card and gift shop located in the famous Camden Passage has been nominated for numerous new business awards within the industry. The shop provides a great outlet for Kate’s creativity and allows her to maintain her interest in small businesses in the local community. Having hosted shows such as ‘Trading Treasures’ and ‘Bootsale Treasure Hunt’ for ITV Kate is very familiar with the world of antiques and collectables, and as Camden Passage is still home to one of the oldest antique markets in London it’s great for her to still maintain an interest in that world whilst at the same time develop her own business.
Kate has also worked with many young people setting up their own businesses as an Ambassador for The Prince’s Trust.
Having presented property shows such as ‘DIY SOS’ for the BBC and ‘I Want That House’ for ITV, it’s no surprise that property development has featured in Kate’s off screen activities too. Her passion for property has seen her redevelop numerous residential and commercial properties.
Kate studied Geography and Conservation at Nottingham University before indulging her wanderlust by travelling around the world. Her adventurous streak has seen her walking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro and trekking around East Africa before reporting on the travel show ‘Wish You Were Here’. Her enthusiasm for walking and wildlife was invaluable as a rural reporter on ITV’s ‘Countrywise’, ‘Project Puppy’ for Animal Planet and ‘Pet Project’ for Five.
Of course Kate started out in Kids TV presenting ‘The Core’, ‘Milkshake’ and ‘Pet Project’ for Channel 5 along with science show ‘The Big Bang’ for CITV.
